Soundscape Archive- A Prog Odyssey
Saturday Nov 11, 2017
Saturday Nov 11, 2017
Todays archive comes from 2008. I was actually looking for an episode devoted to James Bond but discovered that I already put the Bond archive up last year, So if you want that one, you can find it here in feed. So instead, I grabbed an archive from 2008. It was our 106th show. This one was a library episode featuring a focus on Arthur C Clarke. As our show is getting older, it's getting harder to find material for these literary shows. Nevertheless I always thought we did a good job with this one.
This Sunday, we will present a shorter show and we will be on an hour early. It will probably be a seat of the pants sort of show.
Thanks for listening,
Woody

Monsters and Demons 2017 Soundscape Halloween edition
Saturday Oct 21, 2017
Saturday Oct 21, 2017
This will be the 12th Halloween episode that Soundscape has done. Each year we try to identify the spooky and surreal sounds that will haunt us over the fall season. This year, theme originally revolved around monsters and demons. However, it took on a life of it's own as many episodes do. The outcome is just a nice collection of spooky songs and eerie content. We hope you will enjoy this little adventure.
We will return on Nov 12th. I expect there will be another archive provided before that time. If you wish to contact us, we can be reached at soundscape@progrock.com

Soundscape Archive: Twilight Zone (Happy Halloween)
Wednesday Oct 18, 2017
Wednesday Oct 18, 2017
In the busy world of podcasting, I don't often get to do a lot of preparation for a show, so when I do, I am generally more proud of the work. This is one of those episodes. The show is about finding reference to Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Hitchcock and NIght Gallery in the world of prog. This was an incredibly fun show to do. I hope you will enjoy this archival show from 2 years ago.
I am still putting the finishing touches on last Sundays show but don't worry, the newest episode will be up soon. Also, keep those perfect album sides coming. Send them to soundscape@progrock.comÂ
Cheers,
Woody

Soundscape Archive: Another Halloween
Friday Oct 06, 2017
Friday Oct 06, 2017
I have no idea if this is one of the better Halloween shows or not, but we have done one every year since we started this crazy journey. This one comes from 2013. In the next few weeks, we will add some old Halloween episodes to get you primed for the season. Our Halloween show wfor this year will be coming up very soon. Enjoy the ride, and as always please let us know you are out there listening to us. Feedback helps us know that we are providing a quality program. When we moved from Dividingline, we lost a very large cadre of listeners. We did what we could to grab those people for the transition, but many just did not make the move with us. If you enjoy our show, it would go a log ways for us if you rated us on Itunes, told your friends, and generally spread the word. Your sponsorship is greatly appreciated.
Happy October,
Woody

Newer music weaves nicely with more classic tunes to deliver what we hope will be an enjoyable musical ride.

Monday Sep 18, 2017
Hey folks,
Here it is, the newest Soundscape episode. You will note some minor fuzz in the start but once that clears we are golden. This marks the inauguration of new equipment for Soundscape and hopefully a much clearer listening experience. It took some fiddling and some funds, but we are very happy with the result and we believe that you will be as well.
Joining us in this musical adventure are good friends Mike and Liz who have been listening on and off since we were at Dividingline, and our friend and sound gurum as well as a masterful musician, CS Brown is with us for the show as well. We give him a smattering of show time to highlight his upcoming album "Galaxies" which will be an all instrumental journey into the cosmos. You can check out music by Mr. Brown at www.csbrownmusic.com
As we head into the fall, we have several great shows lined up for you. And for the most part we will be broadcasting every 2 weeks again. Keep your perfect album sides coming. Send them and all correspondence to soundscape@progrock.com

Good News Everyone!
We have new sound equipment, and this weekend we will be working with our good friend C.S. Brown to get the sound in the soundscape again. The plan is to be on the air this Sunday. Outside of some new natural disaster, we should be able to get back on the road so to speak.
In the meantime, this month we are celebrating 2 years at Progrock.com. So here then is the very first episode we did for Progrock back in September of 2015. It was a good start to our new digs and I think you will all enjoy it, even the second time around.
We look forward to getting things underway againm hope to see you this Sunday in chat. We will go on at 9:30 CST.Â

Soundscape Archive: Trees
Friday Aug 25, 2017
Friday Aug 25, 2017
Last weekend, as we tried to present a live broadcast, the computer's soundcard, gave up the ghost. What was going to be a tremendously enjoyable show got canned. It was heartbreaking. The mood in the Soundscape studio was one of feeling jilted. We had to cancel the podcast.
The good news is, that our friend Chris, a musician and sound engineer, is going to help us get the perfect setup for podcasting and sound so that we can get to broadcasting quickly. I will post pictures once we get things set up. Nevertheless, we should be back in a month with a cleaner crisper sound.
In the meantime, I am going to offer some archives. As I can't presently listen to anything on the computer, I have not had a chance to listen, and I can't even say I remembered this show. Nevertheless this show is a show about trees and it comes to us from June of 2014. Let me know what you think.
Best wishes,
Woody

Soundscape 2.57 At A Siding
Monday Jul 31, 2017
Monday Jul 31, 2017
The summer has been a wonderfully busy time for us here at Soundscape. We have spent a lot of time galivanting around, playing games, and getting ready to adopt a child. These are all good things and I feel wonderfully blessed to have spent my summer doing things I love. However, we have not been able to keep Soundscape up and running very often. So this episode is to say, fear not, we have not forgooten or foresaken all you wonderful prog fans.
So I have called this episode "At a Siding", as it feels the journey of summer has been very much in need of a respite. This show is more of a respite from the rigors of trying to make the Soundscape brand. I ditched theme, and contrived playlists in this show to really dig into some of the newer stuff and to take a break from the theming. It was nice and relaxing to have that sort of show, one that grew spontaneously out of the moment as it presented itself. There is something to be said for this sort of impulsive play, so we may make it a more regular part of the show. However we will not abandon theming. The nice thing about theming is it hones down the breadth of material, makes us look at one particular area of the vast swath of music available, and ultimatley can create some really wonderful moments of discovery. That said we will return to our previously planned prog metal show in the very near future.
For now, drop into a rather amazing set of new tunes, requests, and meaningful departures.
Send us your perfect album sides. You know the drill soundscape@progrock.com

Soundscape Archive- Cityscape

I don't actually know when this episode first appeared, only that I enjoyed it immensely. There was some great listener communication and support from folks over at Progarchives and the show just felt...good. The shows theme was music that makes us feel like we are in a city...and it does just that I believe.
We are out a good bit of the summer due to vacation plans and time away from home but please know that we will return soon. Until that time we will be presenting archival episodes. When we do return we will have a prog metal theme. I am excited about this one as I have not spent a lot of time with newer prog metal.
Anyway, my best to you all. Hope you are having an amazing summer.
Cheers,
Woody
