Soundscape 2.48 I Never Go Anywhere Without My Glock...enspiel
Tuesday Jan 24, 2017
Tuesday Jan 24, 2017
Hello fellow Soundscapers,
Here we are again with another inspired episode. This time our station boss and good friend Mark Monforti suggested we do a theme featuring music with Glockenspiel. So never one to back down from a good challenge, that is what you have here. There are 4 sets devoted to the theme, as well as some awesome live stuff, Suzi's corner, and a host of new material for you to check out. To be honest, the show was quite a lot of fun, and I believe that we have identified some of the challenges in our sound. There are still improvements to be made but we are pleased with the outcome.
The next show will be aired on 2/19. In that episode we will peruse history as we play the nest of 1976, 1986, 1996 and 2006. We are ramping up to the best of show and we want to pay homage to our past first. In the meantime, sometime next week we will release an archival episode just to keep you grooving for the next 2 weeks.
As always, we are looking for perfect album sides. All you need to do is compose a list of 45 minutes worth of great prog music (or whatever else you feel deserves a listen) and send it to soundscape@progrock.com We will then add it to our collective prog cube and friends across the globe will be listening to your set. Our favorite is when your perfect album sides turn us on to something we missed along the way. Please send us your list, we want to hear from you.

Soundscape 2.47 Entering the New Year
Wednesday Jan 11, 2017
Wednesday Jan 11, 2017
Welcome to 2017. We hope that it will be a year of growth for Soundscape. Unfortunately with all of the changes to our podcast and a rather intermiitent schedule we left some people behind. That is really unfortunate but hoefully in the new year we will find them again. For those of you still with us, thank for listening. It means a lot to us that you have continued with us. We hope to continue providing this podcast in 2017 with renewed vigor.
There is a rather loose theme in this episode. I made the setlist with the following thoughts in mind; new year, anxiety and fear, and hope. 2016 offered a lot to be thankful for, but there was also more gnashing of teeth and nationwide division than I have ever witnessed. Given my concerns, I am strangely optimistic about the year that approaches. I am optimistic because I think the bumbles of our new leaders are going to force us as a nation to recognize our own power as people. I don't think the change will come from the top, I think it will come from the revolution that happens as we open our eyes and see what is going on. We will be compelled to find our own voices and to speak out about inequities and challenges. We will not take the bickering nature of our government officials as an example of how to live, rather we will come together and develop more patience with one another and look for ways to build bridges where there were previously none. It is my prediction that, if we are a nation to be proud of, if we are a people that really do come together in the face of adversity, we will do so more obviously in the face of the radical shifts that our elected leaders want to impose upon us. I don't think that is what this new government should do, but I do believe that this will be what it is like for the next 4 years. I believe that the majority of Americans are good hearted people. A few may need to be called on their shit, but by and large, we will be given the opportunity to show our true colors. It is my hope that hands cannot erase this love, but I will protest and call attention to the acts of indecent behavior I see, I hope you guys will as well.
So there you have it; Soundscape welcomes the new year with hope, a short political post, and some wonderful music to stir your heart and feet. You can reach us by sending email to soundscape@progrock.com On Twitter we are @SoundscapeDJ and on Facebook you can find us on the Soundscape page where we post more regularly than anywhere else. Please send us feedback, perfect album sides, and requests.

Soundscape 2.46 A Christmas Past (Archival Episode from 2011)
Monday Dec 19, 2016
Monday Dec 19, 2016
This holiday season we bring you the gift of history, an episode of Soundscape from our days at The Dividing Line in 2011. This is another way of saying we want you to have a Christmas show, but our schedule has been thrown off by the holiday schedule. We will return soon though. I am not certain how Soundscape is suddenly falling on all the holidays but hopefully in the future this will right itself. The plan is to ring in the new year with a fun and floydy show and eventually get to our year in review. With so much good music, it will take some time to determine what was best.
If you need to reach us, we are here: soundscape@progrock.com and @SoundscapeDJ on twitter.
As always we hope you all have a wonderful Christmas holiday and look forward to putting another show together soon.
Cheers,
Woody & Suzi

Soundscape Archive 2.3 You Only Prog Twice
Thursday Dec 08, 2016
Thursday Dec 08, 2016
It's Christmas time right? But it is also Bond Season. Thanks to a long tradition of cable TV showing Bond after Thanksgiving, I have 2 years ago. We had just started working with Progrock.com so perhaps there were sound problems, but the show was fantastic. This is one of several shows we have done on Bond over the years. Maybe next year we will put out some older ones. For now though, sit back and enjoy this very special journey into the world of James Bond and prog.
We will not be on the air this weekend due to our annual pilgrimage to the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam in Asheville NC. However, we will be back on the 18th with a Christmas show of fun and frivolity. Thanks for making our broadcasts part of your life. We could not do this without our listeners. Also if you liike our show- share it on facebook, rate us on Itunes, make comments on the page. We love getting feedback and it helps us to feel we are not out here in a vacuum.
See you all soon,
Woody & Suzi

Soundscape 2.45 A Short Journey Through Life
Thursday Dec 01, 2016
Thursday Dec 01, 2016
Hey guys,
The theme here is music about stages of life. The show was originally planned to be a 4 hour show, but we had to some editing. As such, adulthood to old age will seem very fast paced. Nevertheless, I think the nature of the thing still came through. Hopefully, it will be a journey of good music and self reflection.
Next time around we celebrate the return of the light. We will not be broadcasting at our normal time as we will be out of town for our annual pilgrimage to Asheville for the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam. If we could take you guys with us we would, but we will try to bring music back from our quest. So, stay tuned to our facebook and twitter pages for details on the when.
Also, as it is Bond season, we will be reuploading last years Bond show (previously available on the old podcast platform).

Soundscape 2.44 I Travel
Thursday Nov 17, 2016
Thursday Nov 17, 2016
One of the most important visions I had for Soundscape was that it would provide a well crafted pastiche of music that allows musical travel. Now originally this episode was supposed to be about traveling, but the moods of the moment and the winds of change sometimes put fickle turns on inspiration. As such what we have for you this week is a gethering of music to allow that musical travel to unfold. Mostly the show is full of epic prog with some minor transitional moments. At any rate it was a lot of fun to craft and we hope you enjoy this journey.
We will return Thanksgiving weekend for yet another Soundscape Journey. Until then keep the music within you alive, share the things you love, and let your lovelight shine.

Soundscape 2.42 On the Track
Sunday Oct 02, 2016
Sunday Oct 02, 2016
This weeks Soundscape takes you on a trip on the rails. There are so many songs about trains that it almost deserves it's own genre. Nevertheless, we have put together a grouping of train songs that we feel truly embed the feeling of train culture. We also offer our usual gathering of new stuff, kitsch, and a perfect album side. I think you will all agree that we are On Track again.
Soundscape will return in 2 weeks. If you would like to send us a message you can send
