Soundscape 2.47 Entering the New Year

Wednesday Jan 11, 2017
Welcome to 2017. We hope that it will be a year of growth for Soundscape. Unfortunately with all of the changes to our podcast and a rather intermiitent schedule we left some people behind. That is really unfortunate but hoefully in the new year we will find them again. For those of you still with us, thank for listening. It means a lot to us that you have continued with us. We hope to continue providing this podcast in 2017 with renewed vigor.
There is a rather loose theme in this episode. I made the setlist with the following thoughts in mind; new year, anxiety and fear, and hope. 2016 offered a lot to be thankful for, but there was also more gnashing of teeth and nationwide division than I have ever witnessed. Given my concerns, I am strangely optimistic about the year that approaches. I am optimistic because I think the bumbles of our new leaders are going to force us as a nation to recognize our own power as people. I don't think the change will come from the top, I think it will come from the revolution that happens as we open our eyes and see what is going on. We will be compelled to find our own voices and to speak out about inequities and challenges. We will not take the bickering nature of our government officials as an example of how to live, rather we will come together and develop more patience with one another and look for ways to build bridges where there were previously none. It is my prediction that, if we are a nation to be proud of, if we are a people that really do come together in the face of adversity, we will do so more obviously in the face of the radical shifts that our elected leaders want to impose upon us. I don't think that is what this new government should do, but I do believe that this will be what it is like for the next 4 years. I believe that the majority of Americans are good hearted people. A few may need to be called on their shit, but by and large, we will be given the opportunity to show our true colors. It is my hope that hands cannot erase this love, but I will protest and call attention to the acts of indecent behavior I see, I hope you guys will as well.
