Journey into 1996

As part of our rather slow build to the best of 2016, this week we feature music from 1996. At this point in time, the world was mostly paying attention to alternative rock like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Your humble DJ here was Djing on college radio his folk and blugrass show, "The Appalaichian Trail". I had 50,000 watts of power for 2 hours a week. Progressive rock continued in the underbelly of the media beast. Many of our favorite bands were cementing themselves into the progressive rock landscape. Soundscape was only just being born.
I did take the idea of Soundscape to my boss at the college station but he was adamant that we could not have a rock show. That's ok, because when Soundscape was finally born, it took me on a deeper journey than it ever would have at the college station.
The journey through 1996 has been full of nostalgia and discovery. Perhaps this will be true for you as well. We would love to hear about what you guys were doing in 1996. Drop on by our Facebook group: facebook.com/soundscape42 and let us know. We can also be followed on twitter. We are @SoundscapeDJ.
Next show will be live in 2 weeks. We will get closer to our destination as we reach back to 2006. Let us know your favorites from this year.
